Feeding my cheesesteak craving

I love food and live in the home region of the cheesesteak. While I can also say I love cheesesteaks, I don’t normally eat them all that often; maybe a few per year typically.

But lately, I can’t seem to get enough of them. I think this came about in part upon my discovery of a wonderful cheesesteak blog: https://philadelphiacheesesteakadventure.com/

This guy – Jim Pappas – has reviewed nearly a thousand cheesesteaks in the extended Philly region. If that’s not inspirational, I don’t know what is. He has a spreadsheet that runs down all of the places he’s been to. While skimming through that, I noticed that there are some very highly rated places near me, in Delaware County, PA. So I’ve slowly begun to follow his lead to see what I’ve been missing. Rather than getting sick of them, the craving seems to keep building.

After I’ve knocked down a few more steaks, I’ll return with a more detailed post that includes additional photos and commentary.

In the mean time, the above photo is from Delco Steaks in Broomall. They are one of the better places I’ve tried so far. That’s Cooper Sharp cheese mixed in so well with the meat and fried onions. Cooper Sharp is gradually becoming popular on cheesesteaks in this area.

I live outside of Philadelphia and have been food-obsessed for as long as I can remember. After toying with the idea of starting a blog for a fairly long time, the extinction of a food-themed message board that I frequented for years prompted me to finally take action. Thank you for taking the time to check out what I've been up to - and eating. If you've enjoyed what you have read and seen, please consider clicking the "like" button and signing up as a follower.
